The Prayer a Day Project was started in 2015 by Rev. Jan Avende, the new ArchDruid of Ár nDraíocht Féin. You write one prayer a day for the month of November. Folks of all spiritual paths are encouraged to join in this practice. I know some folks have kind of a tetchy relationship with the word “prayer,” so…let’s start there
“Prayer” is pretty subjective; it can be a prayer that is written or spoken, a video, a sigil, song, dance, art, etc. It can be used to honor, to express gratitude, to encourage, to strengthen, to share love. Gratitude and introspection are at the forefront of many of our thoughts this time of year as harvests end and the cooler darker months come closer. These are both great ways to start a mindful inward practice, watch how your thoughts move, study your triggers or what is currently tugging at your heart strings
Prayers are pretty personal, so I may or may not share all of my own here. I just thought I would let y’all in on the project if you want to participate. These projects help me examine my internal motivation, see where I am, where I want to go, and who I am connected to, and I’m always grateful for the community of people who are working to bring Spirit into this very online.
A Prayer for November 3, 2026 (the first day I remembered that I WANT to do this.)
As autumn brings about the falling leaves, the flocks of starlings swooping gently in patterns against the brilliant blue sky, and the shorter days, I pray that we cherish our connection to the land, how our bodies shift and crave coziness, feel the need for snuggling at any opportunity, and the desire to pick up the most beautiful leaves. Bask in that late afternoon sunshine. Feel the touch of the Divine in the rays that warm your face. Let the shivers of awareness run up your arms as the breeze flutters about you.
Let everything from the rest of your day fall away except the love, whatever and whomever it is you love. And I pray that you let that love warm you, that you send it out like a radiant cloud, that you receive it from every direction while you stand there, open and hopeful.
